Prince Harry is well known for his bravery and devotion to social work. Prince Harry’s recent work includes working to eradicate the stigma and fear surrounding HIV testing by visiting HIV clinics and also attended International AIDS conference in South Africa.

He posted a live Facebook video while undergoing an HIV test in order to encourage more people to get tested.

According to Terrence Higgins Trust, there has been 5 times more increase in testing requests after the video was posted on Facebook.

Terrence Higgins Trust has focuses on gay men and black African people living in United Kingdom. Terrence Higgins Trust is promoting self-testing through Facebook, Twitter and Grindr. This is the first time that far-reaching and innovative BioSure self-testing is promoted for free and allows people to use their own blood sample and get results instantaneously.

After Prince Harry’s video was posted online there was massive 500% increase in self-kit requests and 4,750 tests were dispensed by the trust.

Medical Director for Terrence Higgins Trust Dr Michael Brady explains, “We know that one in six people living with HIV do not know they have it. That’s why it’s so important that we continue looking for new ways to make HIV testing more accessible to choose most at risk, and why it’s fantastic to see the very tangible and immediate impact of Prince Harry’s support for HIV testing.”
