Top 3: Auckland Winter Ramen

Ramen Takara – there are two branches but I still prefer Brown’s Bay over Ponsonby. Take a winter walk on the beach and then warm up with some Tonkotsu or Black Tan Tan goodness.  www.ramentakara.co.nz

Ramen Do – There’s a few great spots around Eden Terrace for good cheap nosh and this is definitely one of them, the chewy handmade noodles and Hokkaido style broth combo is a total winner. (167 Symonds St)

Zool Zool – the basic ramen flavours are all so authentic here but the added bonus is it’s a cute, modern spot with some interesting extras and desserts like Yuzu Sorbet. (405 Mt Eden Rd)

Fit for a Queen

I checked out Auckland’s new fancy-pants food court, Queen’s Rise and was seriously impressed. It’s an indoor laneway-style eatery on Queen Street with 11 different vendors. There are salads in a jar and other healthy options but we were all over the handmade dumplings and pork buns from Panda and American style fare from Lowbrow, the new eatery from the owners of Auckland favourite, Culprit.
