Hans Wesche was Family Bar’s head of security for 10 years.
Much loved Family Bar bouncer Hans has passed away at the age of 43.
Family Bar announced the news on their Facebook page saying, “It is with great sadness that we lost one of our team on Sunday evening.”
“He was a friend to some a big brother to some a mentor to many but above all, he looked after the community,” Family bar and club owner Wayne Clark said in a statement.
“He was loved by everybody,” Clark says.
LGBT+ community members and allies have taken to Family’s Facebook page to post tributes to the bouncer who worked at Family bar and Club for 10 years.
Many posters described Hans as kind, caring and a man who also was looking after K Road’s LGBT+ community.
Social Development Minister and MP for Kelston, Carmel Sepuloni, was among those who paid their respects, describing Hans as a good bouncer and almost as much the face of Family Bar, as friends like Miss Ribena.”
Hans was laid to rest this afternoon.
