Whanganui’s 2nd annual Pride celebration launches next week with inclusive events all across our countries provincial Pride capital taking place from Monday the 2nd of March.

This years event which has more than tripled in size from 2019’s inaugural Pride and includes events such as a Pride Seminar, a Family Festival, Movie night, Pride walk, Art Exhibition, and a Pride Party.

PRIDE ART EXHIBITION
Mon 2nd – Sun 8th | 9am-4pm | 152 Vic Ave (Old Camera Centre)
Over 20 artists have put together pieces of work that represent what the
LGBTQIA+ Community means to them. Each work is available for
purchase.

PRIDE SEMINARS
Mon 2nd | 12pm & 5:30pm | Bayleys Hall – 158 Wicksteed Street
Monday’s focus is Youth/Rangatahi. We discuss Mental Health, Sexual
Health, resources for schools, for employers and for parents.
Parents/Caregivers/Supporters welcome.

Tues 3rd | 12pm & 5:30pm | Bayleys Hall – 158 Wicksteed Street
Tuesday’s focus is Adults. We discuss Mental Health, Sexual Health,
provide resources for employers, for families and more.
Friends/Supporters welcome.

PRIDE BOX
Wed 4th & Thur 5th | 12pm & 6:45pm | Iron Alley – 78 Wilson Street
Pride Box offers a safe environment to learn new skills or improve on
existing skills, Pride Box is designed to provide you with boxing skills
for life, self-confidence and discipline. No experience needed. BYO
boxing wraps or cotton gloves can be supplied.

PRIDE MOVIE
Friday 6th | 6:30pm | Bayleys Hall – 158 Wicksteed St | Koha Entry
Pride is a British LGBT+ related historical comedy-drama based on a true
story. The film depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised
money to help families affected by the British miners’ strike in 1984.

PRIDE WALK
Saturday 7th | 10am | Silver Ball – River Markets | Koha Donation
A family-friendly event for all to come together and support the
Whanganui LGBTQIA+ community. Be loud, proud and colourful!

PRIDE PARTY
Saturday 7th | Opens 7pm – Kicks off 9pm | Lucky Bar | $20 Entry
Hosted again by the fabulous Miss Ribena – this is one night not to be
missed!! Live Performers & Live DJ! Costumes a must!!This is the night
you’ve been waiting for! Sequins, glitter, rainbows and fabulousness!
The bigger, the brighter, the better!!

PRIDE FAMILY FESTIVAL
Sunday 8th | 1pm – 5pm | Citadel/Castlecliff Library
Hosted by the epic team at the Citadel, the Castlecliff Library and
surrounding area. Enjoy an afternoon of great food, music, stalls, family
activities, storytime and much more!
