Garrett Bruno, a well-known yet controversial travel influencer from West Hollywood, has been found dead while awaiting trial for second-degree murder. As reported by The Daily Mail, Bruno was discovered at his parents’ home in Mount Dora, Florida, on the evening of Tuesday, March 4.
The 33-year-old influencer, known on social media as Garrett Travels (@garrett.travels), was out on bail at the time of his death. He had been arrested in connection to a fatal car crash in October 2024 that resulted in the death of an 83-year-old woman.
According to NBC Los Angeles, the accident occurred on October 10 near the intersection of Fountain and Spaulding Avenues in West Hollywood. Bruno allegedly crashed into a vehicle carrying Esther Abouab and her husband, forcing their car into a parking garage. Abouab was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband sustained serious injuries.
Authorities identified Bruno as the driver responsible and subsequently charged him with second-degree murder and reckless driving.
Just weeks after the crash, Bruno was involved in a separate scooter accident that left him in a coma. When officers arrived at his residence to arrest him, they discovered he had been hospitalised. Law enforcement waited until he was discharged before transferring him to an L.A. jail, where he remained until he was released on bail in January 2025.
Bruno also made headlines last year for his controversial political views, publicly endorsing Donald Trump and JD Vance in their presidential campaign against Kamala Harris—drawing criticism from within the LGBTQ+ community.
