KJ Apa has revealed that his upcoming romantic drama The Map That Leads to You will include a nude scene — specifically, a cheeky moment featuring his bum.
The film, based on the novel by J.P. Monninger, stars Riverdale’s Apa opposite Glass Onion actor Madelyn Cline. Cline plays Heather Mulgrew, a young woman travelling through Europe who meets a charming stranger (Apa). What begins as a holiday encounter soon develops into a sweeping romance — though not without complications.
But romance isn’t the only thing on offer. Speaking on Andy Cohen Live (14 August), Apa confirmed that viewers will catch a glimpse of him in the buff.
Cohen teased:
“You can very clearly see KJ’s ass in the movie.”
Laughing, Apa replied:
“Yeah, yeah, you can. It’s hairy, too. I was thinking about this. Do I shave my ass? I didn’t know that day that I was going to be showing my ass. Had I known, maybe I would’ve shaved it.”
According to Apa, the moment wasn’t originally planned.
“Because originally [Madelyn] was meant to be naked in the shower, and then something happened that day, and then I said I’ll do it,” he explained.
This isn’t the first time Apa has filmed a steamy shower scene. Fans may recall his 2020 film Songbird, in which he also stripped down — though by his own admission, he had shaved for that appearance.
Release date and cast
Directed by Lasse Hallström, The Map That Leads to You also features Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman, Josh Lucas, and Eva García Montiel.
The film will premiere on Prime Video on 20 August, with Apa’s much-discussed nude scene now sure to be a talking point among fans.
