The Harbour Party will not be returning for 2016.
In a statement, Sydney Mardi Gras said it would be axing the waterfront party for 2016.
“This is a significant shift from our traditional approach,” Mardi Gras said, but a necessary one in a “tough commercial and licensing environment”. The news comes after a $336,000 loss as reported in the organisation’s 2015 annual report.
The Mardi Gras parade and party will take place on March 5.
The full programme for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will be released November 19.
