The Falcons are on the lookout for new players to join their summer touch team, and for the first time ever, in the spirit of true inclusivity, they are looking to include wāhine/female/female-identifying players in their team.

Have you ever thought about giving rugby or touch rugby a go and felt intimidated? Have you ever wanted to join a team sport but felt it wasn’t a safe, inclusive space for you? The Falcons rugby team could be just what you’ve been waiting for!

Established in 2013, the New Zealand Falcons RFC is Auckland’s home of gay and inclusive rugby union and touch teams. Their kaupapa is to enable both aspiring and seasoned players to come together to participate and enjoy rugby in an open and supportive environment.

The team has previously been focused on recruiting male players (cis and trans), but this summer, the team are wanting to invite all players to join regardless of gender or sexuality.

The team train on Wednesday nights at Grey Lynn park and play in a social division of Auckland Touch Association’s Tournament at Victoria Park on Monday evenings.

Whether you’ve got a pair of boots you’ve been wanting to dust off, or you’ve never touched a rugby ball before in your life, the Falcons would love for you to come along to training and give it a go.
