What a pleasure this cutting-edge comedy hour was! Freya Demarais kept a largely full Basement audience for Live Orgy in chuckles and outright laughs as she fearlessly delved into topics ranging from feminism to the Green Party to sex.

Kate Sheppard “what a good bitch” began the laughs, which carried on to Helen Clarke “our first lesbian Prime Minister who wasn’t a lesbian”.

Soon after, the men in the audience were asked to stand up, then stand on their chairs, and then leave, which they began to do. “Just kidding,” laughed Freya, waving them back to their chairs. “But now we’re gonna talk about equality.”

That led directly to an hilarious rave about sex education, including the declaration that masturbation “saves you from twat rot” . The rave was also shot through with sharp real-life reminders, such as “when women are treated like pieces of meat, we live in the world of roastbusters.”

In one of the funniest audience involvement sketches this reviewer has seen in a long time, Freya got an audience member to be a clitoris, asking two others to stroked it in turn “until it laughs”!

Raw, exceptionally high energy, cutting edge comedy which has a definite feminist sensibility – Freya Demarais, you are a treat. I shall keep an eye out for your future work.
