The British Singer says, “I do think like a woman sometimes, in my head. Sometimes I’ve questioned ‘Do I want a sex change?’

Sam Smith has ‘come out’ as non-binary saying they don’t identify as either male or female, but has considered having gender reassignment surgery in order to become a woman.

“I’ve always had a little bit of a war going within my body and my mind,” Sam said in the interview.

The Stay With Me hitmaker made the comments in an interview with actress Jameela Jamil.

“I do think like a woman sometimes, in my head. Sometimes I’ve questioned ‘Do I want a sex change?’

“It’s something I still think about, like, ‘Do I want to?'”

Smith first realised that they would no longer identify as a male when they first heard the terms “non-binary” and “genderqueer.”

I’m not male or female, I think I flow somewhere in between. It’s all on the spectrum,” Smith says.

The singer says “[I’m] feminine in many ways” and describes being non-binary as being, “your own special creation”.

Smith also talked about fame and body image in the wide-ranging interview, saying that they first had liposuction at age 12 because he was “holding a lot of weight in my chest” and that body image had historically been the “the basis of all my sadness.”
