Groundbreaking Rapper/Singer Lil Nas X has opened up about when he first realized he was gay, explaining that he started developing crushes on other boys at age 5.
Lil Naz X discussed his journey of self-acceptance, sexuality, and his recent domination of global charts during an interview with Variety.
“I was like: ‘Oh, my God, he’s really cute,’ and thought that about a lot of other boys my age,” Lil Nas X explained when discussing “feelings” he developed for his sister’s cousin.
Despite Lil Nas X knowing he was gay from five, he says he didn’t start his process of coming out until he was in middle school, where he met another boy who was gay who he talked with about their shared experience.
“Once I was 17 or 18, I finally accepted it – like, for sure accepted it, slowly, more and more – and now I’ve grown into a person that is 100 per cent open with it.”
“I’ve had some good boyfriends and some bad ones. A lot of them were emotionally unavailable or had a lot of insecurity and whatnot.”
“I’ve found someone special now. I think this is the one. I can’t explain it – it’s just a feeling,” He adds.
Lil Nas X came out as gay publically during 2019’s Pride Month, coinciding with his single “Old Town Road” being top of the charts across the globe.
