With 20% of campground currently under water, management say they must make some “serious decisions.”
Following two weeks of major rainfall, management at Uretiti Campground, a popular Christmas and New Year’s spot for Auckland’s gay community, are assuring this years celebrations, “will be different.”
The defeated site supervisors say, “After 14 days 7 hours a day pumping we are all back to the same result.”
“Thank you to those that have helped out but looks like been all in vein,” said site manager Steve Farrow on Facebook, casting doubt on whether the campsite will be able to run at full capacity this festive season.
“Now we need to take stock of how we going to handle the influx of campers with over 20% of the camp ground under water. This is not going away in a hurry.
“Unfortunately we are going to make some serious decisions for the season of how this will work and ask that those of you that are booked in for the season will understand and accept what is nessasary to keep all campers safe.”
Farrow says, “We are working on a plan to make the best out of a bad situation and will advise how we see the season at the camp will work out. But trust me it will be different.”
