Giapo tops international ice cream gelato charts

Leading Italian website “Dissapore” has released the top 50 gelaterias around the world – and Auckland’s own Giapo Icecream holds the Head Chef Gianpaolo Grazioli says they are honoured to be part of the list and seeing “Auckland” mentioned in the chart was a fantastic feeling.

“We were amazed when we saw it –  our resilience and commitment are paying back. It’s a real privilege to be on the list with some other great venues around the world that love ice cream as much as we do. It is good for the team and it is good for New Zealand.”

Giapo shares the top 10 with gelaterias such as the Sweet Rose Creamery in Los Angeles, Rocambolesc in Spain and The Creamery Café in South Africa.

This is one of many recent media accolades for Giapo, including winning the 2014 Cuisine Magazine Artisan Experience Award.
