The United Nations General Assembly has elected Ugandan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Kutesa as its next President.

The virulently anti-gay Minister will start his one year term in September. LGBT Ugandans have been subjected to a harsh anti-gay Law that came into effect last February. Kutesa was a vociferous supporter of the new Law, which imposes lifetime jail sentences for same-sex contact and a seven year jail term for anyone who harbours, supports or affirms a known LGBT person.
