“If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise
If you go down in the woods today, you’d better go in disguise
For every bear that ever there was will gather there for certain
Because today’s the day the teddy bears have their picnic.”

Except not so much a surprise, and not so much a picnic, because Bears Christchurch are hosting their annual Big Bear Weekend this 10 to 13 November.

Seven events are planned, including a day trip to Akaroa, a comedy night and of course, the Mr Bear Canterbury competition!

The Akaroa day trip includes a lunch out at The Brasserie and a harbour cruise on an ex-America’s Cup Chase Boat. Whereas the Bears have really brought in the talent for the comedy night, with Neil Thornton headlining at Iconic – Thornton headlined last year as well, and is originally from New York City.

Each event’s ticket can be bought separately, so you can choose however many you want to attend (some are even free). Tickets can be found on Bears Christchurch‘s website: door sales are available, but tickets are cheaper online and door sales are based on availability (aka buy them online if you want to secure a spot!).
