Australian Prime Minister and marriage equality opponent Tony Abbott looks set to lose his position.
Prime Minister Abbott received a request for a party room ballot for the leadership of the Liberal party from Malcolm Turnbull.
Mr Turnbull resigned from cabinet and told a press conference that he believed Tony Abbott was not capable of winning the next federal election and that the electorate has “made up their minds about Mr Abbott’s leadership”
Mr Turnbull is a well known supporter of marriage equality, a reform which Mr Abbott had long opposed.
