How Do Kids React to Bert & Ernie Being Gay?

Bert and Ernie (pictured in an undated file photo), the original Jim Hensen puppets, have been reported stolen January 29 from a traveling exhibition in the German city of Erfut. The puppets, worth thousands of dollars, were part of the late Jim Hensen's first band of "Muppets," who premiered in the hit children's television show "Sesame Street" in 1969 and have delighted children around the world ever since. Although the puppets were fully insured they are considered irreplaceable by Hensen Productions. (files / UPI)

A new video from the popular YouTube series titled Kids React, featuring a group of kids opening up on their opinions on whether or not Bert & Ernie from Sesame Street are a couple has gone viral.

The Kids React video follows Sesame Street writer Mark Saltzman ended years of speculation on whether characters Bert and Ernie were gay or not, claiming that the duo was actually inspired by his own relationship with his life partner, acclaimed film editor Arnold ‘Arnie’ Glassman.

“There are worst things in the world than a boy dating a boy and a girl dating a girl” 13-year-old Chloe says adding “people just need to get over it.”
