The Auckland Pride Board, after receiving feedback regarding Police uniforms in the 2019 Pride Parade, held another community hui on Sunday 12 November. At this meeting, four Auckland Pride members issued the board with a formal request for a Special General Meeting, expressing a lack of confidence in the Auckland Pride Board.

In accordance with their request (attached below) and our constitution, 14 days notice of this SGM is now issued:

Auckland Pride, Special General Meeting
Date: Thursday 6 December 2018
Time: 6 – 8pm
Venue: Pitt Street Methodist Church, 78 Pitt St, Newton

In accordance with our constitution, new memberships will only be considered up to 14 days prior to the SGM. This means that all new membership applications must be submitted by Wednesday 21 November, 6pm (today) to be considered in time for this SGM.

Noho ora mai,
Auckland Pride Board”

The location of a religious house for this meeting seems ironically contradictory to Pride’s stance of protecting the community from institutions they feel traumatised by.

Express understands Auckland Pride have been contacted by both ANZ and BNZ banks to inform them of their withdrawal from the Parade and Qantas is about to do the same.
