Lovato says the pronouns ‘they’ and ‘them’ “best represent the fluidity I feel in my gender expression.”

Taking to twitter to announce the news, Lovato said the decision to start using they/them pronouns was a result of “a lot of healing & self-reflective work.”

“I’m still learning & coming into myself, & I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson,” Lovato said.

“Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths & know I am sending so much love your way.”

Lovato who had identified as queer and sexually-fluid said in 2020 they were “still figuring it out.”

In 2017, Lovato stated: “I saw myself ending up possibly with a woman,” and “I think love is love. You can find it in any gender.”
