Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon has confirmed that she’s bisexual during an interview with Jimmy Fallon.
75-year-old Sarandon made the casual remark about her own bisexuality while joking about liking both dogs and cats to Fallon.
“My little creatures all passed away. I can’t talk about it because I still get upset. It was about a year ago,” Sarandon said.
“I was feeling sad and… I said, ‘I can’t get another dog. I just can’t,’ you know? And [my son] said, ‘Well, then get cats.’”
“And I’m bi, so…” Sarandon explained.
Fallon, who was clearly taken aback by Sarandon’s comment, interjected: “So you mean you like dogs and cats?”
“I’m fluid,” Sarandon responded. “I’m very fluid where animals are concerned.”
While Sarandon’s “bi” comment could be seen as a joke, fans highlight that it does support comments made about her sexuality in the past, including a 2017 interview with Pride Source when she explained that she was “open” about her sexuality, “My sexual orientation is up for grabs, I guess you could say.”
Sarandon has been well-known for her longtime advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights.
